The subjects in case group received a printed version of Ayatalkorsi and were asked to read it once while in control group, no intervention was done except receiving their routine care. Data were analyzed with SPSS 16, using T student and Chi square tests.
Results: The results showed that anxiety mean score in both groups a moderate to high in day before surgery. But in operation day anxiety mean score in case group was more less than control group. A significant differences was found (P<0/001).
Conclusions: According to the results, it can be concluded that the reading of Ayatalkorsi can decrease the preoperative anxiety. Thus this method can be recommended as a non-pharmacological strategy which is a safe and cheap procedure in patients waiting
