Abstract

Background: Study of Macrosomia is very important due to its serious complications in mothers and in fants. Objective: To determine the prevalence of Macrosomia and associated factors among pregnant women. Methods: This cross-sectional study has been done by continious sampling from 2000 mothers reffering to Bahonar hospital. Findings: According to the prevalence of Macrosomia, 6.1%. 9.8% had no risk factor versus 90-2% who had one or more risk factors. In ages between 35-39, the prevalence rate was five times more than ages under 20 (P: 000826). Diabetic prevalence was 49%, but in mothers with in fants under 4000 g, it was 0.5% (Fister test: 0.000133). According to the body mass index, the prevalence was six times more than the subjects with normal weight (13.3% versus 2.6%). Conclusion: Observing each of the above risk factors, the patients should be diagnosed clinically and sonographed.
