The effect of coping techniques training on coping strategies of infertile women in Kermanshah

Abstract
Background: Psychological problems of infertility can be a contributory factor in intensity of infertility. The aim of this study was to estimate the effectiveness of coping techniques training on coping strategies of infertile women in Kermanshah.
Methods: Among the women who visiting infertile clinic, 40 volunteer women had been chosen and randomly divided equally into two experimental and control groups. In pre test phase, subjects in both groups simultaneously answer to Folkman- Lazarus coping strategies questionnaire. In next phase, only experimental group treated to 8 (120 minutes) sessions. After terminating treatment sessions both groups simultaneously in post test and follow up phases by the mentioned questionnaire had been tested again. In order to analysis the data SPSS software version 16 were used and analysis of variance with repeated measurement was employed.
Results: There were meaningful differences (P<0.05) between and among scores of self–controlling coping, seeking social support, accepting responsibility, plan full problem solving, positive reappraisal, escape-avoidance, in infertile women in pre test, post test and follow up phases, while there was not statistically significant difference between encountering and avoidance strategies.
Conclusion: Coping technique training helped the increasing of using coping strategies for self–controlling, seeking social support, accepting responsibility, plan full problem solving, positive reappraisal and the decreasing of using escape–avoidance coping in infertile women in Kermanshah
