Abstract

Background: The aim of current study was to compare the mental health of fertile and infertile couples.
Materials and Method: A sample of four groups (infertile couples who gave birth child after treatment, infertile couples who brought adopted child, fertile couples who gave birth normally and infertile couples who have no children) have been selected using available sampling method and were asked to complete the mental health questionnaire (GHQ-28). A descriptive design has been used as the research method.
Results: Infertile couples who had no children compared to other studied groups showed more risk for different psychological problems.
Conclusion: Having no children seemed to make an important influence on psychological health. [ZJRMS, 2012 14(1): 72-75 ]
