Aim & scope

Jundishapur Journal of Microbiology (JJM) is an international peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality scholarly works in all areas of microbiology. The journal provides a scientific forum for the dissemination of significant advances in basic, clinical, and applied microbiological research.
The journal aims to promote a deeper understanding of microorganisms, microbial interactions, and infectious diseases, with particular emphasis on research that contributes to the diagnosis, prevention, control, and treatment of infections affecting humans, animals, and the environment.
JJM welcomes manuscripts in, but not limited to, the following fields:
- Medical Microbiology, including clinical microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, diagnostic microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, healthcare-associated infections, and emerging or re-emerging infectious diseases.
- Veterinary Microbiology, including infectious diseases of animals, zoonotic infections, and microorganisms of veterinary importance.
- Environmental Microbiology, including microbial ecology, environmental health, water and soil microbiology, biodegradation, and bioremediation.
- Molecular Microbiology, including microbial genetics, genomics, molecular pathogenesis, gene regulation, and molecular diagnostic approaches.
- Infectious Diseases, including host–pathogen interactions, disease mechanisms, prevention and control strategies, and novel diagnostic or therapeutic developments.
- Immunology of Infectious Diseases, including immune responses to microbial agents, immunopathogenesis, vaccine-related studies, and infection-associated immunological mechanisms.
- Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases, including disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, transmission dynamics, risk factor analysis, and public health aspects of infectious diseases.
Article types
Jundishapur Journal of Microbiology (JJM) publishes a range of article types to facilitate the dissemination of high-quality scientific knowledge in the field of microbiology.
The journal welcomes the following categories of manuscripts:
- Original Articles: Full-length reports of novel and significant research findings in all areas of microbiology.
- Review Articles: Comprehensive and critical evaluations of current knowledge on specific topics of interest, providing insights into emerging trends and future directions.
- Short Communications: Brief reports presenting preliminary or concise findings of scientific importance that warrant rapid dissemination.
- Letters to the Editor: Scholarly comments on previously published articles or short discussions on relevant scientific issues within the scope of the journal.
