Abstract

Background: Child Health Questionnaire (CHQ) is one of the most widely used measures for health related quality of life. The present study examined the psychometrics characteristics of Persian version of CHQ for students.
Methods: 800 primary and secondary school students were selected with multistage randomly sampling from state schools. The questionnaire was adapted employing the translation/retranslation method and considering the measures of cultural understanding and adaptation. The reliability of questionnaire was assessed by internal consistency (Cronbach alpha coefficient) and test-retest. Construct and content validity were assessed through factor analysis survey and concepts conformity according to the purpose of each subscale by experienced professions.
Results: The result of factor analysis indicated that this questionnaire satiated by two physical and psychosocial factors. This outcome is congruous with Health Related Quality of Life Theory. Internal consistency and test-retest coefficients of questionnaire in most scales were high. In addition, significant correlation in content analysis of items between factors was observed.
Conclusion: The results of this study showed that Persian version of CHQ enjoys an acceptable psychometric characteristics in measuring student’s health related quality of life.
