Aim & scope
The Iranian Journal of Radiology (IJR) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal dedicated to advancing research, education, and clinical practice in the fields of radiology and medical imaging. Its primary aim is to promote the exchange of knowledge among radiologists, clinicians, researchers, and imaging scientists worldwide, with a particular focus on improving diagnostic accuracy, therapeutic interventions, and patient outcomes through innovative imaging methods and technologies.
The journal publishes high-quality original research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, case reports, and technical notes covering all areas of radiologic sciences, including but not limited to:
- Diagnostic Imaging: Conventional radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and hybrid imaging modalities.
- Interventional Radiology: Image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Nuclear Medicine: PET/CT, SPECT, and molecular imaging innovations.
- Radiation Physics and Dosimetry: Studies on imaging safety, optimization, and radiation protection.
- Emerging Technologies: Advanced image processing in radiology.
- Educational and Clinical Practice Research: Innovations in radiology education, quality improvement, and clinical workflow.
IJR encourages submissions from across the globe, particularly from developing countries and under-represented regions. Studies addressing the epidemiological, cultural, and socio-economic factors influencing imaging practices and disease patterns are highly valued.
Article types
The Iranian Journal of Radiology (IJR) is an authentic, peer-reviewed clinical journal that publishes a carefully selected compilation of the latest international and interdisciplinary research and reviews in the field of radiology. The journal seeks to disseminate scientific findings that advance diagnostic and interventional imaging, disease understanding, and patient care.
1. Original Research Articles: Original research manuscripts present novel clinical or experimental findings in all areas of radiology and medical imaging. Studies may include diagnostic accuracy, interventional techniques, technological innovations, or multidisciplinary imaging research. Articles should include clear objectives, methods, results, and discussion with evidence-based conclusions.
2. Review Articles: Comprehensive and up-to-date narrative or systematic reviews that summarize existing literature, identify research gaps, and provide critical insights into recent advances in radiologic sciences. Meta-analyses using established reporting standards are also encouraged.
3. Consensus and Evidential Reports: These manuscripts present expert consensus statements, clinical guidelines, or position papers developed by professional societies, working groups, or multidisciplinary panels. They aim to standardize diagnostic or interventional practices and provide evidence-based recommendations for clinical application.
4. Case Reports and Clinical Observations: Well-documented case reports or short communications that highlight rare findings, novel diagnostic approaches, or important clinical lessons in radiology. These articles should emphasize educational value and include high-quality images.
5. Brief reports: Brief reports describing new imaging methods, software, devices, or procedural techniques that enhance image acquisition, analysis, or interpretation. These submissions should focus on innovation and technical reproducibility.
6. Letters to the Editor: Concise and scholarly letters that provide commentary on previously published articles in the Iranian Journal of Radiology or share critical viewpoints on emerging topics of interest. Letters should be constructive, evidence-based, and limited in length.
7. Editorials and Commentaries: By invitation only, these pieces address current trends, controversies, or significant developments in the field of radiology, reflecting the perspectives of experts or members of the editorial board.
Through these diverse article types, IJR aims to foster the dissemination of radiologic knowledge, highlight clinical and technological advances, and promote scholarly communication among the global imaging community.
