Abstract

Background: In today's fast changings, those organizations are successful that are able to adapt themselves to these changes and possess the power of required innovation. Hospitals and health care centers where innovation and creativity are of great importance are not excluded from this rule. Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate the establishment situation of knowledge management and its dimensions in the teaching hospitals of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This cross- sectional descriptive study included all personnel working in the teaching hospitals of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences during the year 2014. The sample size was estimated 96 persons using cluster sampling method. Data were collected using a questionnaire which its validity by a panel of experts and its reliability using Cornbrash’s alpha were calculated. Statistical analysis of the data was done by using one-sample and independent T-test. Findings: The results showed that knowledge management in the three fields of creation and identification, acquisition, and the development of it among nurses was a significant relationship. Also, there were no significant relationship in the terms of knowledge sharing, maintenance, and application among nurses. Conclusion: In the field of knowledge management and its six areas, the highest score was assigned to the development of knowledge and the lowest score was given to its sharing.
