Editors & Boards

• Brieflands distinguishes between academic editors and publishing staff. The Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors and Editorial Board members serve the journal in an academic capacity and receive no payment from Brieflands, the publisher and owner of the journal, or from the affiliated academic organization, for their editorial work. Brieflands' in-house editorial and production staff are salaried employees of the publisher.
• No editor's or staff member's remuneration is linked in any way to the number of manuscripts submitted, accepted or published. Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of scientific merit and are not influenced by article processing charges, fee waivers or any other revenue consideration.
• Editors are required to declare all relevant conflicts of interest, and must not handle, review or take any decision on a paper in which they have a competing interest. Relevant competing interests from previous years are also taken into account when deciding whether it is appropriate for an editor to handle a paper.
• The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the scientific content of all material published in the journal, including all special issues and guest-edited content.

Associate Editors are senior researchers in the fields covered by the journal. They handle assigned manuscripts, select and invite peer reviewers, assess the reports received, and make a recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief. The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

Associate Editors serve on a voluntary basis and receive no payment, honorarium, fee waiver, discount on author charges, or preferential handling of their own submissions in return for their service. Manuscripts submitted by an Associate Editor are handled by an independent editor, and the submitting editor takes no part in any decision concerning their own work, or in any manuscript in which they have a competing interest.

• Editorial Board members are distinguished researchers working in the fields covered by the journal. They advise the Editor-in-Chief on the journal's scope and policies, and serve as Academic Editors for manuscript submissions.
• All Editorial Board members serve on a voluntary basis and receive no payment, honorarium, fee waiver, discount on author charges, or preferential handling of their own submissions in return for their service.
• Manuscripts submitted by Editorial Board members are handled by an independent editor, and the submitting member takes no part in any decision concerning their own work.

Ownership and affiliation

The journal is owned and published by Brieflands, a publishing company registered in the Netherlands. Anesthesiology Research Center, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences is affiliated with the journal in a scientific capacity only: it supports the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board in defining the journal’s scope and upholding its scientific standards. The organization holds no ownership, financial or commercial interest in the journal, and no funds pass between Brieflands and the organization in either direction.

Brieflands is responsible for publishing operations, production, dissemination and the platform. Scientific responsibility for all published content, including special issues and guest-edited material, rests with the Editor-in-Chief. Editorial decisions are determined by scientific merit alone. Brieflands conducts its activities in accordance with applicable Dutch and European Union law, including export-control and sanctions regulations.
