Editors & Boards

The Editor-in-Chief holds final responsibility for the scientific content of all material published in the journal, including all special issues and guest-edited content, and takes the final decision on every manuscript on the basis of scientific merit alone.

The Editor-in-Chief serves in an academic capacity and receives no payment, honorarium, fee waiver or discount on author charges from Brieflands, the publisher and owner of the journal, or from any affiliated academic organization, for this service.

Manuscripts authored or co-authored by the Editor-in-Chief are handled by an independent editor, and the Editor-in-Chief takes no part in any decision concerning their own work. The same applies to any manuscript in which the Editor-in-Chief has a competing interest.

No member of the editorial team receives a salary, honorarium, fee waiver or discount on author charges from Brieflands in return for editorial service. Brieflands is the sole owner and publisher of the journal and holds no financial relationship with the institutions with which members of the editorial team are affiliated. Individual competing-interest declarations, where these have been completed, appear against each member’s name below.

The Governing Board oversees the journal at policy level, advising on its scope, standards and long-term direction. The Board takes no part in decisions on individual manuscripts. Responsibility for the scientific content of all material published in the journal, including all special issues and guest-edited content, rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

Brieflands distinguishes between academic editors and publishing staff. Members of the Governing Board, the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors and Editorial Board members serve the journal in an academic capacity and receive no payment from Brieflands, the publisher and owner of the journal, or from any affiliated academic organization, for this service. Brieflands’ in-house editorial and production staff are salaried employees of the publisher.

No editor’s or staff member’s remuneration is linked in any way to the number of manuscripts submitted, accepted or published. Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of scientific merit and are not influenced by article processing charges, fee waivers or any other revenue consideration.

Board members and editors are required to declare all relevant conflicts of interest, and must not handle, review or take any decision on a paper in which they have a competing interest. Relevant competing interests from previous years are also taken into account when deciding whether it is appropriate for an editor to handle a paper.

Associate Editors handle manuscripts on behalf of the Editor-in-Chief. They identify and invite reviewers, assess the reviews received, and make a recommendation on each manuscript they handle.

Associate Editors serve in an academic capacity and receive no payment, honorarium, fee waiver or discount on author charges for their editorial work. An Associate Editor takes no part in any decision concerning a manuscript in which they have a competing interest, or which they have authored or co-authored.

Editorial Board members are distinguished researchers working in the fields covered by the journal. They advise the Editor-in-Chief on the journal’s scope and policies, and serve as Academic Editors for manuscript submissions.

All Editorial Board members serve on a voluntary basis and receive no payment, honorarium, fee waiver, discount on author charges, or preferential handling of their own submissions in return for their service.

Manuscripts submitted by Editorial Board members are handled by an independent editor, and the submitting member takes no part in any decision concerning their own work.

Consultants serve exclusively in an advisory and consultative capacity. They may provide non-binding advice to the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board on the journal’s scope, policies, long-term direction, and specialist matters within their fields of expertise.

Consultants, in their capacity as Consultants, do not participate in the peer-review process, do not handle or evaluate individual manuscript submissions, and have no authority to make or influence editorial decisions concerning the acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts. All manuscript-specific editorial decisions are made independently by the Editor-in-Chief and the responsible academic editors, in accordance with the journal’s editorial and peer-review policies.

Manuscripts authored or co-authored by a Consultant are handled by an independent editor, and the Consultant takes no part in any decision concerning their own work.

Consultants serve in an academic capacity and receive no payment, honorarium, fee waiver, or discount on author charges for this advisory service.

The methodology and statistics adviser assesses study design, statistical analysis and reporting in manuscripts referred by the Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor. Referral is at the editors’ discretion and is used most often for clinical trials, systematic reviews, meta-analyses and studies with complex analyses.

The adviser serves in an academic capacity and receives no payment, fee waiver or discount on author charges for this service, and takes no part in any decision concerning a manuscript in which they have a competing interest.

The researchers listed below have completed peer review assignments for the Journal of Comprehensive Pediatrics. The figure shown against each name is drawn automatically from the journal’s editorial records and is not entered by hand.

Reviewers assess manuscripts and advise the editors; they do not take editorial decisions, and they are not involved in decisions on manuscripts they have reviewed or on which they have a competing interest. This list is not exhaustive: it names active reviewers who have agreed to be acknowledged publicly, and the journal is equally grateful to those who prefer not to be named.

Ownership and affiliation

The journal is owned and published by Brieflands, a publishing company registered in the Netherlands. Iranian Society of Pediatrics is affiliated with the journal in a scientific capacity only: it supports the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board in defining the journal’s scope and upholding its scientific standards. The organization holds no ownership, financial or commercial interest in the journal, and no funds pass between Brieflands and the organization in either direction.

Brieflands is responsible for publishing operations, production, dissemination and the platform. Scientific responsibility for all published content, including special issues and guest-edited material, rests with the Editor-in-Chief. Editorial decisions are determined by scientific merit alone. Brieflands conducts its activities in accordance with applicable Dutch and European Union law, including export-control and sanctions regulations.
