Brieflands’ Artificial Intelligence Policy for Authors in Manuscript Submission
Follow Brieflands’ AI Policy and disclose all AI use to avoid rejection. Ensure full transparency in submissions.
Brieflands is committed to ensuring the integrity, transparency, and originality of all submitted scholarly work. With the rapid advancement and increasing accessibility of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, this AI Policy requires authors to clearly disclose any use of such technologies during the preparation of their manuscripts.
1. Mandatory Disclosure of AI Use
All authors must disclose any use of AI tools during the manuscript preparation process. This includes—but is not limited to—uses in:
- Developing or refining the initial idea for the manuscript
- Creating or modifying figures, diagrams, or graphical elements
- Editing the text, including improvements in English language quality, grammar, readability, or academic writing style
- Generating, locating, or verifying references
- Authors must ensure that all AI involvement is reported accurately during the submission process.
2. Required Details for AI Disclosure
When reporting AI use, authors are required to provide the following information:
- Identification of the AI Tool: Authors must name the specific AI tool(s) used, such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, Grammarly, Scite, or any other language model, image generator, or reference assistant.
- Description of the Exact Contribution:
- Authors must clearly specify:
- Which figure(s) were generated or modified using AI
- Which parts of the manuscript text (e.g., Introduction, Methods, Discussion, Abstract) were edited or written with AI assistance
- To what extent AI contributed to these sections (e.g., minor language polishing, major text rewriting, complete figure generation)
- This level of detail helps maintain transparency and ensures the originality and reliability of the submitted work.
- Authors must clearly specify:
- Disclosure of AI Use in References
- If AI is used in any part of the referencing process, authors must explicitly state:
- Which references were suggested, corrected, or generated by AI
- To what degree the AI tool contributed (e.g., providing initial suggestions, verifying citation details, generating summaries)
- If AI is used in any part of the referencing process, authors must explicitly state:
Authors remain fully responsible for verifying the accuracy and authenticity of all references, as AI-suggested references may sometimes be incorrect or fabricated.
3. Reporting AI Involvement in Concept Development
If AI tools contributed to the initial concept or development of the main idea of the manuscript, authors must disclose:
- How extensively AI influenced the conceptualization
- Whether AI generated part of the research question, hypothesis, conceptual framework, or overall structure of the article
Brieflands requires full transparency in idea generation to ensure that the authors’ intellectual contribution is clear and substantial.
Final Responsibility of Authors
While AI tools may assist in various stages of manuscript preparation, they cannot be listed as authors and do not bear responsibility for the content. All authors remain fully accountable for:
- The accuracy and originality of the manuscript
- The validity of data, results, and interpretations
- Ensuring that no AI-generated content is plagiarized, fabricated, or misleading
Failure to disclose AI use according to this policy may result in rejection of the manuscript or retraction after publication.
