Abstract

Abstract Background: Preparation and staining of mouse chromosomes by Gimsa and T-G banding is the cornerstone of many researches on diagnosis, prevention and treatment of many diseases, production of new drugs and quality control of biological derivatives. Objective: To provide a sample karyotype of mouse. Methods: Mouse chromosomes were prepared from bone marrow of male outbred mice (NMRI). After culturing and preparing the slides, they were studied by staining with Gimsa and Trypsin-Gimsa (T-G) banding techniques. Karyotypes were prepared according to the standard karyotype of the mouse. Findings: Metaphase with spread from diploid cells contained 40 chromosomes and all of them were characterized by their banding patterns. Conclusion: T-G technique provides greather detail and demonstrates more bands, in contrast with other methods.
