Abstract
Abstract Background: One of the most common ways to evaluate infants’ growth is measurement of antropometric indices. Objective: To study the average height and weight of newborns in Deziani hospital of Gorgan and its relation with the mothers’ age, race and parity. Methods: Through a cross-sectional descriptive study 2190 infants were randomly selected using the existing information in the hospital. Findings: The average weight and height of all newborns were 3244±493 gr and 49.49±2.23 cm respectively, and higher in cesarean born (P<0.05). According to race and age, these parameters were higher in Torkaman newborns and newborns with mothers aged above 18. Conclusion: Geographical, environmental and racial parameters, parity and mothers’ age have significant effects on newborns antropometric indices.
