Abstract

Background: Hepatitis C virus is one of the important agents of Non-A, Non-B viruses. Hepatitis C virus is a causative agent for chronic and acute hepatitis. Objective: To evaluate the presence of Anti-HCV among pregnant women. Methods: The sera of 80 pregnant women who referred to Amirkabir and Razi hospitals of Ahwaz were collected. All the sera were tested for Anti-HCV by ELISA test. The immunoblot (Liatek) test was used for confirmation. Findings: Out of 80 samples, 5 (6.25%) sera showed positive Anti-HCV by ELISA, but these positive samples were negative by immunoblot test. Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that no Anti-HCV dection was observed among the pregnant women. However, more investigations are recommended.
