Tuberculosis of the breast: A case report
A case of tuberculosis of the breast is reported in a 74 years old women. The lesion was considered as a malignant mass through clinical observation. Histological examination of the breast lesion revealed numberous caseating granulomas. Direct smear from mass secretions were negative while the culture became positive for AFB after 2 months. The patient showed satisfactory progress after surgical excision and antituberculosis therapy. It can be concluded that breast tuberculosis should always be considered in differential diagnosis of breast lumps especially in developing countries.
