Surgical results of acute subdural hematomas in Qazvin Shahid Rajaee hospital
Background : Acute subdural hematoma generally appears as extra- axial collection of fresh blood, and causes mortality and morbidity in head injured patients. Objective : To determine the incidence and surgical results of acute subdural hematomas in Qazvin Ragaee hospital. Methods: Through a 2- year retrospective study, patients operated for acute subdural hematoma in Qazvin Rajaee hospital were evaluated, and survived ones were followed up (1998-2000). Findings: 609 patients with moderate to severe head trauma were admitted in Rajaee hospital, of which 63 patients were operated for acute subdural hematoma and 23 patients survived . Conclusion: Compared with other studies, different findings of this study may result from too many accidents in the region.
