Abstract

Unconsummated marriage is a sexual dysfunction in which couples are not able to make a normal intercourse. Unfortunately, most often non – professional and non – scientific methods are used in treatment of this disorder. This report is a review of treatment procedure of an unconsummated couple who followed non – effective treatment for 14 years and finally was treated successfully by a scientific and drug – free method. The main problem of this couple was the sexual phobia in the woman and vaginismus during intercourse . During the years, they had been frequently faced with suggestion of surgery and had been treated with several non – effective drug medications. Then, relaxation technique was taught to the woman during several sessions and intercourse – related imagination was gradually accompanied with relaxation . In next stage, the woman was asked to enter her finger into her vagina during relaxation and finally, after the practices were successful, intercourse accomplished. Total stages of treatment lasted about 4 months and four months follow – up was performed for management maintenance. It seems that unconsummated marriage can be treated during a fairly short time with an effective , non- dangerous and low – cost method.
