Role of increased capacity of emergency department in injury admissions during disasters
This interventional study was performed to determine the role of increased emergency department capacity in admission rate during disasters in Ahvaz Naft hospital, 2013. Firstly, the emergency department capacity was evaluated for injury admission before crisis through assessment sheet and direct observation . Then an executive program was prepared to increase capacity including providing necessary equipments for critical condition , training the personnel, anticipating needs for crisis time, and making the required changes in the emergency department physical space. After 6 months, the progress and implementation of the program was evaluated by two crisis maneuvers. Admission capacity was increased three times by the program that leads to increased readiness in order to provide better services in the emergency department during crisis.
