Abstract

Background:

Quality of life is a broad concept of health and is linked to physical health, psychological status, level of independence, social relationships, individual personal beliefs and environmental factors, complexly and has become important in recent years. In this context, evaluation of quality of life of students as future builders of society is essential. This study was done to determine the quality of life domains in Ahvaz Azad university students.

Material and methods:

This is a cross sectional descriptive and analytical study which was done on 400 students of Ahvaz Azad University in 2010. Demographic and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires were used for data collection. After calculating, any domain score was transformed to the range of 4-20. Data were then analyzed.

Results:

The mean of age was 23.2 with standard deviation of 4.7 years. 61.1% of students were female and 38.9% were male. The highest Score was related to physical health with 14.92.3 and the lowest score was related to environmental health with 12.32.8. The female students had earned more points at environmental health, significantly (P<0.0001). There were no significant differences in other dimensions between male and female. Social health of married students was higher than single students (P<0.0001). There were no significant differences in other dimensions between married and single students. The environmental health of the students living in dormitories was lower than others (P=0.02).
