Abstract

Background: Considering the opportunities and over time nurses communicate with patients; this responsibility is greater for nurses. But despite this, nurses unfortunately make less attention to the important role and performance that his. The purpose of this study the performance and responsibility of nurses, patient education are compared.

Material and methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study. The study population included 200 nurses employed at Golestan University of Medical Sciences hospitals in 2010, which were sampled. A three-part questionnaire was prepared that based on demographic data, performance and the responsibility of nurses. Analysis was performed by SPSS statistical software version 16 and descriptive and analytical tests.

Results: Findings from research Mean Nurses’ Perception of Performance and Responsibility of Patient Education 2/97 indicated. Mean and standard deviation in the area of education in preparation of patients receiving care19.8(3.93) and education in preparation of patients for discharge20.26(3.66) compared with other areas of the levels were upper. The finding showed that there were significant differences between hospital and course with performance of nurses to patient education.
