Abstract

Introduction: In high education system, quality is related to job function of graduated students, performed results of research and special services, and evaluation is possible judgment about quality and achievement to educational system objectives. However, purpose of this study was enhancement of educational quality in pediatric nursing department using internal evaluation. Materials and Methods: In this study, faculty’s members of pediatric nursing department were evaluated logistic parameters (space and facilities of theory and practical education, educational aid equipments), organizational ranking (head of department and teaching members of department) and teaching – learning process (educational status of nursing students, nursing students achievement to theory and practical education objectives, and students opinions about teaching process) by utilizing an accreditation model. Data collection performed using 24 questioners with 438 criterions. Then average of all scores compared and analyzed by Gourman classification. Results: Results showed that logistic parameters ranked as “more than satisfactory” with 3.25 score, that the highest and lowest score related in order with educational aid equipments and theory education space. Organization rankings obtained 3.35 points, as “more than satisfactory” ranking. Also, teaching – learning process in pediatric nursing department ranked as “strength” with 4.05 points. Conclusion: Generally, pediatric nursing department ranked as “good” with 3.65 pts in total evaluation factors that indicates optimal status for department.
