Abstract

Introduction: Today, improving patients’ quality of life (QOL) is the criterion for the treatment of coronary artery disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of spiritual care based on GHALBE SALIM model on QOL of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients. Materials and Methods: This single-blind clinical trial was conducted on 92 patients with AMI hospitalized in CCU of Chamran Hospital of Isfahan, Iran in 2016. In this account, after random allocation of the subjects to the intervention and control groups, the spiritual intervention based on GHALBE SALIM model was regularly performed on the subjects of the intervention group at 17-20 hours for three days. In addition, the QOL of patients was assessed before and one month after the intervention by using the World Health Organization questionnaire. Results: 50% of the participants were female. Mean ± SD of the patient’s age was 61.3 ±8.9 and 62.7 ±6.9 in the intervention and control groups, respectively. On average, the spiritual care program increased the scores of physical, mental, and social health, QOL and general health to 19.8, 17.5, 11.6, and 27.2, respectively. Furthermore, a significant difference was observed between the study groups in terms of the quality of life score (P
