Dear Editor,

I read, with great interest, the article by Emamgholi et al., (1), entitled “Comparing the lifestyle and sexual satisfaction of patients received methadone maintenance therapy with those of patients received and narcotics anonymous”, published in the Middle East Journal of Rehabilitation and Health Studies. Despite the attractiveness of the study, there are errors in its writing that need to be corrected. I hope that my comments can help improve the transparency of the results and facilitate the comprehension of the contents for the manuscript readers.

These errors can be listed as follows:

  • The word eighteenth (AND) seems to be an error in the title and should be deleted.

  • In the abstract, despite the fact that sexual satisfaction component has been reported insignificantly, the P value was unintentionally reported as significant (P = 0.000).

  • The results of the main text show that there is no significant difference between the two groups in terms of mental health; however, in the abstract, the P value is significantly less than 0.05.

  • In the abstract and the methods section (the part 2.1.), the final sample is 50 people for each group and a total of 100 people. While in Tables 1 and 2, 60 people were reported for each group.

  • In the first paragraph, after Table 1, the P value was reported as P = 0.00, it should be reported as P = 0.001 or P < 0.05.

  • In the same paragraph, it is noted that Table 3 uses the t - test. While this table contains merely descriptive information.

  • Following Table 1, in the second paragraph, it is noted that according to Table 3 there is a difference between the groups in terms of the components of lifestyle. However, this information can only be deduced from Table 4. Meanwhile, the significance of the difference in the groups’ sexual satisfaction was not reported in neither Table 3 or 4.
