Abstract

We have studied the effect of oral clonidine on Blood Pressure of the Patients under spinal
anesthesia. For minor to moderate surgeries at Khatam-ul-anbia Hospital of Zahedan –Iran in
1380(2001).
In this double –blinded , prospective , randomized study involving 50 patients who that divided
in two 25-patients groups and the first groups reciveved oral clonidine 2 μg/kg drug 90 min prespinal
anesthesia and the other group did not resived any drugs.
12% of group 1 patients had diastolic and systolic hypotension but at group 2 , 24% had systolic
hypotension and 16% had diastolic hypotension after 10 min interval of spinal anesthesia. But there
were no statistical difference between the two groups.
Implications:
Oral clonidine as premedication has no any effect on the blood pressure following spinal
anesthesia, so we can use oral clonidine as premedication for its benefits.
