Abstract
effectiveness of three methods of eye care in health of cornea in critically ill patients in Kermanshah intensive care unites 2013.
Methods: These clinical trials were done with 96 samples in three. Three methods Care (Polyethylene cover, Artificial tears and liposic gel) randomly performed on one eye of each
patient and compared with the opposite eye as control, the other two groups was compared, Whilst the routine care was performed on both eyes of samples. Interventions during the study eyes of patients every day for 5 days by ocular surface disorders and keratopathy tool was created. Analyzed the data using SPSS-16 and chi-square test, ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests were performed.
Results: There was no statistical differences between groups in age, gender, case of admit ion, integrity of cornea and level of conciseness. The use of polyethylene cover was significantly more effective than other methods in health of cornea (P=0.001) and general, the results showed that each of the three methods are more effective than routine care
intervention wash eyes with normal saline control group (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Finding of study suggested the use of nursing and polyethylene cover in patients hospitalized in intensive care with low of conciseness and impaired self-eye care were been able to maintain health of cornea and saline alone is not sufficient to prevent keratopathy.
