Abstract
Background: Many breast cancer patients experience mental disorders during their illness. Patients for coping with their illness, use different coping strategies. The aim
of this study was to examine the relationship between psychological status and coping strategies in women with breast cancer in Kermanshah.
Methods: This study was including 127 women with breast cancer. for estimating of Mental disorders used of DASS-42 questionnaire and for estimating of coping strategies used of Bylyngr and Mouse questionnaire (1981). Data by using of correlation coefficients
proportional with level of variables were analyzed in SPSS- 16 software package.
Result: The results of this showed that there was a significant positive relationship between Emotion-focused coping responses and Stress, Emotion-focused coping
responses and Anxiety (quantitative and qualitative levels) with avoidant coping responses (p˂0/001).
Conclusion: All women with breast cancer in the study, regardless of their mental disorder, in the first dealing with their illness used of avoidance coping strategies. But in
the next step depending on stress and anxiety disorder are used different coping responses.
