Study of the related factors in couples’ sexual relationship during pregnancy
Background: Recognition of the related sex factors in pregnancy is important for prevention of complications of couples’ sexual relationship during pregnancy which aggravate the pregnancy complications. Objective: To determine the related factors in couples’ sexual relationship during pregnancy. Methods: Through a clustered, random sampling research, 385 pregnant women who referred to health centers of Isfahan city from May 1999 to June 1999, were studied. Findings: 68% of the pregnant women had complications in their sexual relationship during pregnancy. The results indicated that individual, physiological and psychological factors, sexual knowledge in pregnancy and complications in sexual relationship before pregnancy were considered as related factors in complications of sexual relationship during pregnancy. Conclusion: According to the high prevalence of complications of sexual relations during pregnancy and its negative effects on the psychological health of the family, health directors must develop more educational programs in this regard.
