Final Editor-in-Chief Steps: Language Editor, Final File and Sending to the Publisher

Last updated 8 August, 2026 | 21:14

Once a manuscript reaches the “Waiting for EIC” stage, three actions belong to the Editor-in-Chief and they follow one another: getting more input if the reviews are not enough, uploading the final file after acceptance, and handing the article over to the publisher. This page covers all three in the order they happen.

1Adding a language editor or an additional associate editor

The EIC (Editor-In-Chief) has the ability to add a language editor or an additional Associate Editor (AE) to a manuscript in "Waiting for EIC" status if the AE's or Reviewer's comments are insufficient. To do this, the EIC must log into the website using their EIC role and navigate to the "WAITING FOR EIC" status. At this stage, there is an "Add Language Editor" button. Upon clicking this button, a list of associate editors will be displayed.

Subsequently, the language editor will locate the article in the "New Invitation" section of their panel. They can then submit their review by clicking on the "Submit Language Editor Comments" button.

3Sending the accepted article to the publisher

After accepting an article by EIC, s/he must send the article for publishing to the publisher. This action is called "Send to Publisher." Brieflands will start to publish an article just after this action.

How to "Send to Publisher"?

After logging into the journal website, EIC can find the article mentioned by clicking "Accepted articles need to send to Publisher" under the "Manuscripts with a Decision" menu.

Click the "Send to Publisher" button and fill in the below fields:

  • Article order in TOC: write an order (e.g., 1 or 2, or 235 .... )
  • Desired issues: EIC can select the volume and issue of the article. Contact the publisher if you cannot find your preferred volume/issue.
  • Feature file: An image that will be shown in the published issue.

Production begins only after “Send to Publisher” is clicked. Until then the article stays with the journal, so a manuscript sitting in this state is waiting on the editorial office rather than on Brieflands.
