Authors submitting to Brieflands journals must confirm the following declarations and commitments:

Author Disclosure and Publishing Agreement

As the corresponding author and authorised representative of all co-authors, I confirm that:

  • I have reviewed and complied with the relevant Instructions to Authors, Publication Ethics Policy, and Conflict of Interest Disclosure Policy.
  • The authors retain copyright in the manuscript. If accepted, the authors grant Brieflands a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, and non-exclusive right of first publication and permission to edit, publish, reproduce, distribute, preserve, archive, index, and promote the Version of Record.
  • The published article will be distributed under the Creative Commons license specified by the journal and displayed on the article. Authors may share and reuse the article in accordance with that license.
  • I have obtained the necessary permissions for any third-party copyrighted material included in the manuscript and have properly acknowledged its original source and copyright status.
  • The submitted manuscript is original, has been prepared by the listed authors, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The manuscript will not be submitted to another journal while it is under consideration by this journal. Any withdrawal request must be submitted and handled according to the journal’s withdrawal policy.
  • All listed authors meet the journal’s authorship criteria, have approved the submitted manuscript, and agree to be accountable for their contributions.
  • All listed authors meet the four ICMJE authorship criteria; an Authors’ Contribution statement using the CRediT roles is included; and an authenticated ORCID iD has been supplied for the corresponding author.
  • A Data Availability Statement is included immediately before the references, stating whether the data underlying this article are deposited, available on request, or restricted — and, where restricted, why. Any deposited dataset is cited in the reference list. See Research Data and Reproducibility.
  • Any use of generative AI in producing this manuscript has been declared as required by the AI Authorship Policy, and no AI tool is listed as an author.
  • Each author has completed the ICMJE Disclosure Form, covering the 36 months preceding submission as required by Brieflands, and the disclosures are reported in the manuscript.
  • Where this is a clinical trial, it was registered before enrolment of the first participant and the registry name and number are given in the abstract.
  • The study is reported according to the reporting guideline for its design and the completed checklist is uploaded with the submission.
  • The authors are responsible for the accuracy, integrity, originality, ethical compliance, methodology, data, analyses, and conclusions presented in the manuscript.
  • All required ethical approvals, informed consent documents, clinical trial registrations, funding disclosures, and conflict of interest declarations have been obtained and accurately reported.
  • Brieflands may perform editorial, language, formatting, and technical modifications necessary to comply with the journal’s standards. Any substantial change affecting the scientific meaning of the article will require author approval.
  • Statements and opinions expressed in the article are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the views of the editors, journal, or publisher.
  • The publisher is not responsible for any harm or loss resulting from the inappropriate application of materials, methods, instructions, products, or ideas described in the article.
  • I have informed all co-authors of the terms of this agreement and confirm that I am authorised to accept these terms on their behalf.
