Abstract

Background: ETS and LH are one of the most important nursing interventions which cause change in HR, rhythm and Pa O2. Objective: To determine the effect of LH and ETS on the above variables. Methods: Before and during each protocol, HR and rhythm, and after each protocol Pa O2 were recorded on the checklist. Findings: The results indicated that compared to the control level, there was a statistically significant increase in HR, and also immediately at 60 and 165 seconds an increase in Pa O2 (P<0.05). It was also observed that L.H and ETS caused tachycardia and extrasystol. Conclusion: L.H and ETS donot cause hypoxemia but they increase Pa O2. Sinus tachycardia and extrasytol were observed despite the absence of hypoxemia.
