Review tasks do not always run to plan: a reviewer may need longer, or may decline or let the invitation lapse. Both situations are handled from the same place in the editorial panel.
Extending review time
How to Extend a Review Task?
Associate editor or reviewers can extend the time of their tasks just for one time and within the prior due date, which the EIC already defines.
- Each review task can be only extended ONE time.
- The default for the extension date is considered seven days.
- The maximum extension is done within the deadline, which the EIC already defines.
To do:
- Sign in to the journal > Choose your role (The Associate editor OR the reviewer);
- at the top-right pane: Go to ‘TO-DO: My Reviewer Tasks’ > click the ‘Submit Review’ button.
- At the end of the review page, click the ‘Extend Time’ button.
- You can type a short description of the reasons to extend in new windows. Please write your reason for the extension as shown below:
Rejected and expired tasks
Managing Rejected/Expired Tasks
At Brieflands STM Publisher, managing rejected or expired tasks is an essential part of maintaining an efficient editorial workflow.
When logged into the reviewer, Associate Editor (AE), or Editor-in-Chief (EIC) panel, users will notice a text box at the top section of the interface indicating the number of expired tasks. This notification helps users stay informed about any pending actions that require their attention.
To view more detailed information about these tasks, including reasons for rejection or expiration, and to take appropriate actions, users should click the "Manage" button. This will provide access to the relevant tasks and allow users to address them promptly, ensuring that the publication process continues smoothly and without unnecessary delays.
- Then, you can see a list of out-of-date tasks and follow them.
- For instance, you can choose a new date or refer them to another person.
- Besides, you can invite a new reviewer.
