Healthy Food: The Secret of Japanese Health
Japan’s exceptional life expectancy is largely credited to its balanced and culturally respectful approach to food. This book examines how Japan’s nutrition practices promote public health and explores how key elements can be thoughtfully adapted to improve dietary habits in Iran—without copying, but by learning and integrating relevant, sustainable models.
Why Japan? Why Nutrition?
Today, Japan is a country with one of the highest average life expectancies in the world. This is not just a statistic; it reflects years of mindful living, intelligent individual and social choices, and health-focused policies. At the heart of this lifestyle lies a vital factor: nutrition. In a world where chronic diseases, obesity, diabetes, and metabolic disorders are on the rise, Japan has taken a different path with a balanced, simple, yet diverse and nutrient-rich diet. With a culture that respects food, seeing it not merely as calories or habit, but as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. This book’s central question begins here: Why has nutrition in Japan been so impactful, and how can parts of it be implemented in Iranian society?
We also possess a rich and diverse food culture. But modern urban trends, excessive consumption of processed foods, and a departure from traditional healthy habits have triggered warning signs. It is time to rethink, to learn, and to change. In this book, I do not seek to prescribe formulas or promote imported solutions. Rather, I aim to offer a practical and adaptable model for improving the health of Iranian society through nutrition, drawing inspiration from a society that has shown how food can shape the future of a nation.
