Liver Cirrhosis: Patient Awareness
The digestive system processes food from mouth to intestines, aided by the liver, which secretes vital substances for digestion.
Foreword:
The digestive system is a hollow, tubular structure that begins at the mouth and ends at the anus. After food is chewed in the mouth, it passes through the esophagus and into the stomach. Each section of the digestive system secretes various substances to aid food digestion. Through several biochemical processes, digested food is prepared for absorption in the intestines. The liver, one of the digestive system's essential organs, plays a significant role in digestion by secreting substances critical for processing food. The liver is located in the upper right section of the abdomen, just below the diaphragm.
