Introduction of this Book
One of the most common misconceptions among journal editors-in-chief is the overemphasis on indexing their journals in top-ranked indexing sources. This misguided focus creates numerous challenges for editorial teams and publishers, diverting attention from the true purpose of academic publishing. Based on personal experience, I call this phenomenon "Indexing Disease." Indexing should not and must not be the ultimate goal of journal publishing. The true aim is to improve lives by addressing real-world challenges through research.
This book, titled "Indexing Sources for STM Journals," aims to enhance the knowledge of journal editors and shift their focus toward the genuine objectives of publishing. It provides a comprehensive review of various indexing sources, highlighting their importance in disseminating scientific knowledge globally. We believe all indexing sources play a vital role in connecting research with readers worldwide. Discriminating between top-ranked and low-ranked indexing sources often stems from financial or economic interests. Such conflicts of interest must be avoided to maintain the integrity of scientific publishing.
