About this book
The medical check-up is among the most effective preventive measures in public health: a way of identifying serious illness early, while it is still tractable. This book was written to raise awareness of that and to supply practical solutions, giving readers a scientific understanding of why regular examination matters both individually and collectively.
Its importance has grown as chronic disease has spread — diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Examination allows early detection, but it also reduces long-term healthcare costs, improves quality of life, and lightens the load these diseases place on health systems.
Obesity and fatty liver are the book's central focus. Both are commonly associated with unhealthy lifestyle, poor diet, and physical inactivity, and both raise the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and several cancers. Because that threat is global, the authors treat prevention as a shared obligation rather than a purely individual one.
Seven chapters cover the ground: the importance of medical check-ups; understanding obesity and its consequences; fatty liver and its role in public health; principles of prevention and treatment; practical strategies for a healthy lifestyle; frequently asked questions; and a conclusion with scientific sources for further reading. Each uses simple language alongside explanatory charts and tables.
Prevention is always better and more cost-effective than treatment, and this book bridges the gap between awareness and action to achieve sustainable health. From the introduction

Note. This book is educational and does not replace clinical assessment. Which screening tests are appropriate, and how often, depends on age, family history, and individual risk, and should be decided with a physician — over-testing carries its own harms. Anyone with abnormal results or suspected liver disease should be assessed by a qualified clinician.
