About this book
In today's world, nutrition is no longer just a means of satisfying hunger; it is recognised as one of the most critical determinants of health and quality of life. The World Health Organization has emphasised that non-communicable diseases, fatty liver disease among them, are among the greatest public health challenges of this century.
Fatty liver disease is tied directly to lifestyle and dietary choice, and rising consumption of processed food, added sugar, and unhealthy fats has turned it into a global epidemic. This book responds by examining the impact of food on liver health — raising public awareness and setting out what the science supports.
Preventing and managing fatty liver disease improves individual quality of life, and it is also a step toward the WHO's global goals for reducing the burden of non-communicable disease: access to nutritional information, better diets, and lower prevalence of lifestyle-related illness. All of those depend on awareness followed by action.
I hope this book serves as a bridge to healthier living and improved global health, offering answers to questions that are becoming increasingly important: what should we eat, and what should we avoid?Prof. Seyed-Moayed Alavian — from the introduction

Note. This book provides general dietary education and is not a personalised nutrition plan or a substitute for medical care. Fatty liver must be diagnosed and staged by a physician, and other liver conditions can present similarly. Readers with diabetes, advanced liver disease, or kidney disease, and anyone on prescribed medication, should agree dietary changes with their physician or a registered dietitian.
